Welcome to St Stephen Parish Council

Welcome to the website for St Stephen Parish Council. Lying just South of St Albans in Hertfordshire the Parish consists of three main villages Bricket Wood, Chiswell Green and Park Street, with the latter incorporating the areas of How Wood, Frogmore and Colney Street. The Parish Council provides services such as community centres, play areas, sports pitches, allotments, woodlands and open space.

Here you’ll find details of the Council meetings and who your councillors are.

Parish Council elections will be held on Thursday 4th May 2023. If you would like to stand as a candidate, click for more information and to download a nomination pack.

Residents are welcome to attend Full Council and Committee meetings, except the Human Resources Committee. Meetings are currently held virtually on www.zoom.us due to Coronavirus restrictions but previously were held in the Council Chamber at the St Stephen Parish Centre, Station Road, Bricket Wood, unless advertised otherwise. Times and dates are shown on the Council Meetings calendar and Full Council agendas displayed on your Parish Noticeboards. Meeting agendas and minutes are posted on the website.

St Stephen Parish is a vibrant community, with many groups offering a wide range of leisure and social activities. You will find details of events on the Community events calendar and details of the various groups meetings and using the Parish Centre and Greenwood Park Community Centre on the What’s On page.

** HAPpy Camps return this April – bookings open on Monday 6th March at 12noon**

This Spring, School aged children who are eligible and in receipt of benefits related free school meals can enjoy free food, free sports, and free craft activities at over 200 HAPpy Camps across Hertfordshire.

HAPpy is the Hertfordshire activation of the national Holiday Activities and Food Programme. Hertfordshire County Council has joined forces with the Herts Sports Partnership and the Hertfordshire Community Foundation to organise a programme for the school holidays every Easter, Summer and Christmas until 2024.

The HAPpy programme is running free activity camps from 3 April – 14 April 2023 (not bank holidays), and with over 14,000 free activity camp places available, eligible families are being encouraged to get their booking code from their school and reserve a place at a camp near them as soon as possible.
